Essential Duties:
The Communications Consultant’s specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Support management of communication activities for the Organization Africa Regional office and its divisions
· Coordinate the drafting, editing, design and dissemination of effective outreach products for key projects, including briefs, brochures, PowerPoint presentations, web features, blogs, newsletters, press releases, and website content
· Manage, edit, and provide content and post all content to the office website
· Continue with the implementation of the communication strategies for the Africa office.
· Plan and execute activities in line with the Africa office and its projects
· Manage organization and execution of internal and external events (online seminars, conferences, workshops, brown bags ect…).
· Manage office social media channels (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and others as appropriate).
· Manage media and press relations, organize press conferences, identify media, and blog opportunities for team members and collaborators.
· Prepare and edit press releases, briefing notes, media advisories, media talking points, question, and answer documents to work with media effectively
· Oversee the branding, design principles and guidelines for all Oraganization Africa materials and products, ensuring their consistent application
· Produce periodic reports on websites and social media, use and suggest areas for improvements.
· Manage the office publications and printing
· Other duties as necessary.
Required Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Communication or related field,
• At least five (5) years of relevant professional experience.
Required Skills:
· Fluency in written and spoken French and English
· Excellent communication, writing and drafting skills
· Experience in writing, blogs, event write-ups, newsletters
· Experience organizing, events, press conferences, and managing media relations
· Experience in managing the editing and lay out of documents and other publications
· Highly skilled in conceptualizing, writing and selling stories/information to internal and external audiences
· Ability to convey scientific and complex research information to diverse audiences in an engaging and concise manner.
· Ability to interact professionally in a diverse, multi-cultural setting and with all levels of collaborators.
· Ability to work independently and multitask under tight deadlines and in a fast-paced environment.
· Highly output-focused and conscientious with a strong attention to detail.

Desired Skills:
